Thursday Features

I have found myself a little warn out these past two weeks, from traveling all of the east coast to trying to finish my photography website. I need a little break this week, so I am bringing you two AWESOME super cute blogs to read. Hope you enjoy! I certainly did.

We are Stephanie and Laura! Two friends who write a beauty and style blog. After two years of being dedicated to reading our favorite blogs, we decided to pair up and write one ourselves. We enjoy tutorials, reviews, fashion, and all things beauty related!

Hi everyone! I’m Jayda; it’s so good to meet you! I’m a recent University graduate, wife to an amazing man, and mom to the most adorable puppy ever. I’m a huge fan of tea, popcorn, reading, and laughing. I try to live my life with joy, and embrace all of the little moments that make it so worthwhile.
I’m brand new to the blogging world, and I’m happy to be here! My blog is a collection of the things I love; healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) recipes, crafts, fashion, and decorating, as well as stories of my life as a wife, sister, daughter and friend. I’m having so much fun writing so far, and I love reading all of your blogs too…I’ve met so many awesome people through blogging already, and I can’t wait to meet more. I’d LOVE it if you’d stop by and introduce yourself!

A High Summer Wedding Workshop

This past weekend I got to go to my FIRST photography workshop called Wonder. Wedding photographers are a dime a dozen these days, and ever since pinterest blew up it seems like becoming a photographer is the new trend. I had a moment where I gasped and thought, "Ah! I'm one of them!" If I'm honest with myself, I get discouraged all of the time because of this. But I am determined to NOT let me fall into that. Which is why I was so excited about going to this workshop.

I have always shot in Aperture Priority, but am not a full-on manual girl. Woot! I think I might do a series on shooting manual later...because it really is simpler than you think. The hard part is mastering it. I also learned things like set your white balance to cloudy...even if it's bright out. This will give people a warmer skin tone. The grass was kind of dead because of summer heat, so it some cases this was a little too yellow. But It really will work once the grass is green again!

Anyways, enjoy these pictures...they are TO DIE for.

What I was shooting with:
Canon 5D Mark II
50mm f/1.2
35mm f/1.4
85mm f/1.2L II

A 114 degree wedding...with no AC.

What would you do if on your wedding day...there was a heat index of 114 degrees and there was NO power at your venue? Cry? That's what I would do. But not this bride. A true champ.

For any of you that live in the VA/MD area, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you that don't, last week was the hottest EVER. And there were massive storms that sent VA in to a state of emergency. Over 1 million people lost power, including this wedding venue.

They had a few small generators that were just enough to power the DJ and a couple strings of lights throughout the barn. No AC, ceiling fans were off, bathrooms didn’t work. Talk about a nightmare! But you can see from these pictures that Katie didn’t let it effect her at all. I didn’t hear one complaint out of this girl. You could tell that she was just so excited to be marrying Dan, that nothing else mattered. She was the bee’s knees.

If one thing was apparent from being around this couple and their friends and family, it was that they made each other laugh…and they didn’t stop laughing the entire time. You can really tell when a couple enjoys each other- and this was one of those couples.

 Is she stunning, or what?

The groom's family was huge Disney fans, so they made sure to let Micky be a part of their day.

A storm passed mid-reception, and these were the AWESOME clouds.
Even though it was hot, they sure didn't let it stop them from dancing the night away. My kind of people!

Thank you Katie and Dan for letting us share your special day! You two are going to have a long life with many laughs, vacations to Florida, and hopefully no zombie-attacks.

Check out more photos here.
